I have created these exercises originally for a workshop I conducted on background coloring.
I have designed them to help students experiment with combining various light sources to achieve different “moods” and “atmospheres.”
For example, in the first BG, the room interior layout, there are five light sources: the window on the right, the door, the ceiling lamp, the table lamp, and the TV. Try combining these light sources to create both day and night scenes. Use these layouts to practice coloring—whether traditionally or digitally—by exploring the various lighting opportunities in the scenes.
Use the first layout as a background key and work on it’s close up too, and try to keep the color/light consistency.
